New Pathways to Teaching in New Jersey Alternate Route Program

The NJCU New Pathways Alternate Route program is a unique, completely online program for people with a bachelor's degree to become a certified teacher in New Jersey.

Flexibility and Choice. 100% online program for graduate credits.

Fall and Spring Admission:

  • Begin the program in September or January. Next point of admission is for January 2024.

Personalized Assistance. We are experts on teacher licensing. We provide advice and help for navigating the New Jersey Department of Education regulations and strong faculty ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. When you contact us, you get a real person with timely answers.

High-Quality Coursework. Our program includes rigorous, practical courses that thoroughly prepare candidates for teaching. We have separate tracks for Elementary and Secondary Education to provide for peer collaboration and ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.

Statewide Reach. New Pathways to Teaching is a fully accredited online program. All can be completed anywhere in the state.

In accordance with New Jersey Department of Education guidelines, the Praxis CORE remains a licensure requirement for candidates who complete NJCU teacher education programs. The recent legislation involving the Praxis CORE does not apply to NJCU teacher education programs. We do not participate in the alternative licensure program.
